All-Purpose Balsamic Sauce with Mushrooms

  1. Mix all the ingredients together.
  2. Cut the mushrooms in half, then into 3mm thick slices.
  3. Small mushrooms are fine.
  4. Saute the mushrooms in olive oil until wilted, then sprinkle in the flour.
  5. When the mushrooms are even more wilted, add the ingredients from step 1, turn down the heat to low and simmer until the sauce is thickened.
  6. Mix frequently to make sure it doesn't burn.
  7. Add the milk or cream at the end, bring to a simmer and it's done.
  8. The photo is with bite sized pieces of pork, but you can use it with steamed vegetables or other meats.
  9. It's light and delicious.
  10. This is the sauce on a hamburger steak.
  11. Since the sauce is well flavored, don't add too many seasonings to the things you're serving it with.
