Hoska
- 3/4 c. milk
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/2 c. warm water (105~ to 115~)
- 3 pkg. dry yeast
- 5 1/2 c. unsifted flour
- 2 eggs
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 3/4 c. sugar
- 1/2 stick oleo
- 1/4 c. white raisins
- Scald milk.
- Stir in sugar, salt, oleo and vanilla.
- Cool to lukewarm.
- Put warm water into warm bowl and add yeast.
- Stir until dissolved.
- Stir in lukewarm milk mixture, 2 eggs and 3 cups flour. Beat until smooth.
- Add enough flour to make a soft dough.
- Turn out onto lightly floured board.
- Knead until smooth and elastic (about 10 minutes).
- Place in greased bowl, turning to grease top. Cover and let rise in a warm place until double in size (1 hour). Punch down.
- Turn out onto lightly floured board.
- Knead in raisins until well distributed.
- Bake as a loaf or form a braid.
- Bake at 375u0b0 for 40 minutes.
- Brush with melted butter.
