Bread And Butter Pickles / Wisatefair2001 Recipe

  1. Combine cucumber and onion slices in a large bowl.
  2. Layer vegetables with salt; cover with ice cubes.
  3. Let stand 1 1/2 hrs.
  4. Drain; rinse and drain again.
  5. Combine remaining ingredients in a large saucepan; bring to boil.
  6. Add in liquid removed cucumbers and onions and return to a boil.
  7. Pack warm pickles and liquid into warm jars, leaving 1/4" head space.
  8. Remove air bubbles.
  9. Adjust 2 piece caps.
  10. Process 10 min in boiling water bath canner.
  11. Yield: 7 pints (about)
