Strawberry Toasties
- 2 cups All-purpose Flour
- 3 Tablespoons Sugar, Plus Extra To Sprinkle On Top
- 1 teaspoon Salt
- 3/4 cups Margarine
- 4 Tablespoons Cold Water
- 23 cups Strawberry Jam (or Your Favorite)
- 1 whole Egg
- 1/2 cups Icing Sugar
- 4 teaspoons Evaporated Milk
- For the toasties:
- Preheat oven to 400F.
- 1.
- Mix flour, sugar, and salt in a large bowl.
- 2.
- Using a pastry blender or your fingers, cut in margarine so that it resembles coarse crumbs or pea-sized pieces.
- Sprinkle 2 tablespoons water over flour mixture; add remaining tablespoons as needed so that dough holds together when pressed.

- Shape dough into 2 balls.
- Chill for 30 minutes if too soft to roll out.
- (I didnt have to do this.)
- 4.
- Shape each ball into a triangle shape and roll out into a rectangle approximately 9x12 inches.
- 5.
- Cut into 12 equal pieces.
- On 6 pieces, place a spoonful of jam.
- Whisk egg and brush the remaining 6 pieces.
- 6.
- Sandwich a jam piece with an egg piece, egg side in.
- seal edge tightly with a fork or by pinching.
- 7.
- Place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- 8.
- Brush tops with remaining egg, sprinkle with white sugar.
- 9.
- Repeat with remaining dough.
- 10.
- Place in the oven for 13-15 minutes or until golden on top.
- For the icing: 1.
- Stir icing sugar with evaporated milk.
- 2.
- Spread over cooled Toasties.
- Enjoy!
