Buttermilk Brownies Recipe
- 1 c. butter or possibly Margarine
- 1 c. water
- 1/3 c. cocoa pwdr
- 2 c. all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 c. buttermilk
- 2 x slightly beaten Large eggs
- 1 x & 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 x recipe Chocolate Buttermilk Frosting (recipe follows)
- In a medium saucepan combine butter, water and cocoa.
- Cook till mix comes to a boil, stirring.
- Remove from heat and set aside.
- In a bowl, stir together flour, sugar, soda and salt.
- Add in buttermilk, Large eggs and vanilla; beat till smooth.
- Stir batter into warm cocoa mix.
- By hand, beat till well combined.
- Pour into greased and floured 15 x 10 x 1 inch baking pan.
- Bake in 400 Degree F oven for 20 min.
- While brownies are hot, pour chocolate buttermilk frosting over top.
- Cut into bars when cold.
- Makes 2 dozen bars.
- Over 25 years ago my daughter, Beth, won a blue ribbon for the these brownies at the Polk County, Florida, County Fair.
