Coffee Barbecue Sauce

  1. Heat oil in saucepan over medium heat.
  2. Saute onion 5 minutes, or until soft.
  3. Add cumin, chili powder, garlic, and paprika, and cook 30 seconds, or until fragrant.
  4. Stir in remaining ingredients and 1 cup water.
  5. Cover, reduce heat to medium-low, and simmer 30 minutes, or until slightly thickened.
  6. Strain into bowl, and discard solids.
  7. Refrigerate overnight to let flavors develop.
  8. Use on tofu or seitan, or stir into baked beans.
