Marshmallow Fondant

  1. Melt marshmallows and 2 tablespoons of water in a microwave.
  2. Place the bowl in the microwave for 30 seconds, open microwave and stir, back in microwave for 30 seconds more.
  3. Continue doing this until melted.
  4. Takes usually 2 1/2 minutes.
  5. Place 3/4 of the powdered sugar on the top of the melted marshmallow mix.
  6. Grease hands and counter very generously, then dump bowl of mixture in the middle of the greased surface.
  7. Knead mixture like bread dough.
  8. Add the rest of the powdered sugar, and knead more.
  9. Keep hands greased.
  10. Add a little more water to mixture if it's tearing.
  11. This takes 8 minutes on average.
  12. Let sit overnight (best results, but can use immediately if needed), tightly wrapped in cellophane and/or ziplock bag.
  13. If you wish to add food coloring, it's best to do it the next day.
  14. Wear good plastic or latex gloves, then add coloring to the fondant, kneading as you go.
  15. The more you knead, the better the color will blend.
