Granola bars recipe

  1. Preheat the oven to 175C.
  2. Grease an 8-inch square cake pan with a little butter and line it with waxed or parchment paper.
  3. Place the butter, maple syrup, fruit spread, and sugar in a saucepan over medium heat.
  4. Heat until the butter has melted and the sugar has dissolved.
  5. Stir well to mix.
  6. Bring to a boil and cook for 2 minutes until it has a thick, sticky consistency.
  7. Place the remaining ingredients in a large bowl.
  8. Pour in the melted ingredients and mix well.
  9. Pour into the prepared cake pan, flatten with a wooden spoon, and bake for 1520 minutes until golden brown.
  10. Remove from the oven and leave to cool.
  11. Cut into squares.
  12. Keep in an airtight container for 34 days, or freeze extra portions the day they are made for up to 1 month.
  13. If freezing, defrost thoroughly, let come to room temperature, and serve.
