The Ultimate Muesli
- 120 g butter
- 150 ml oil
- 350 ml honey
- 80 ml maple syrup
- 50 ml vanilla extract
- 120 g rolled oats
- 200 g bran flakes
- 200 g corn flakes
- 80 ml wheat germ
- 50 ml sunflower seeds
- 50 ml pumpkin seeds
- 50 ml desiccated coconut
- 40 ml pecan nuts
- 40 ml walnuts
- 40 ml cashew nuts
- 40 ml sliced almonds
- 40 ml mixed dried berries
- Preheat oven to 150 degrees celcius.
- Mix the butter, oil, honey, maple syrup and vanilla extract in a large pot and bring to a boil over low heat until all the ingredients have dissolved.
- Pour the mixture over the dry ingredients and stir well.
- Bake in the oven, tossing every few minutes until the syrup has been absorbed and the dry ingredients have crisped about 30 minutes.
- Remove the mixture from the oven and allow to cool completely.
- Stir it REGULARLY during this time to avoid the muesli from clumping or setting in a solid slab.
- Serve as desired with milk or yoghurt and store in a airtight container for upto a month.
