Apple Chutney Sweet Recipe
- 4 c. apples, peeled cored and minced (about 2 pounds)
- 1/2 c. firmly packed brown sugar
- 1/2 c. bottled lemon juice from concentrate
- 1/3 c. raisins
- 1/4 c. minced green bell pepper
- 1/4 c. minced onion
- 3/4 tsp grnd cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp salt
- In medium saucepan, combine all ingredients; mix well.
- Place over high heat and bring to a boil.
- Reduce heat to low; simmer, uncovered, 30 to 40 min, or possibly till apples are tender.
- Serve hot or possibly cool.
- Makes 2 c..
- Serves 8: 104 cals, 0.3g fat.

- vary by adding a little cayenne pepper and/or possibly your favorite curry pwdr.
- NOTES : Other things we do ....
- Add in cayenne or possibly curry or possibly a garam masala to any diced fresh fruit.
- Add in citrus juice (lime is good); stir and cover and let stand in the refrigerator for 24 hrs.
- add in herb or possibly spice to "just fruit" preserves.
- Blend with a yogurt for a dip; add in a little to "finish" the gravy of a savory stew
- (spicy orange marmalade for a beef stew; blueberry-orange mash for a pork stew; etc.)
- or possibly just use the spiced preserves plain as a condiment.
- When we make our own chutney/salsa, WE control the spice.
