Aunt Bessie's Pink Applesauce
- 6 lbs sweet apples, peeled, cored and coarsely chopped
- 14 cup brown sugar
- 18 cup white sugar
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
- 1 12 cups water
- 1 tablespoon strawberry gelatin
- 1 pinch salt
- 2 pinches cinnamon
- 1.
- Combine all the ingredients in a heavy pot.
- Over medium-high heat bring to a boil.
- 2.)
- Lower heat and cook, stirring ofter while breaking up the apples, until apples are very soft.
- If the applesauce is getting too thick then add a bit more water.
- 3.)
- Immediately pour into prepared canning jars.
- Cover and process 20 minutes OR if to be used within 3 days, chill in the refrigerator.
