Fanwood Chow-Chow

  1. Scald, peel, and slice tomato.
  2. Chop onions.
  3. Sprinkle with salt.
  4. Allow to stand 2 hours.
  5. Drain.
  6. Add apples and boil slowly for 2 hours.
  7. Add vinegar, brown sugar, mustard, red pepper, celery seed, cinnamon, and cloves.
  8. More salt may be added if desired.
  9. Simmer about 1/2 hour.
