Red Cake Recipe

  1. Disolve soda in vinegar before adding to mixture.
  2. Add red food coloring last.
  3. Combine all other ingredients in large mixing bowl.
  4. Use electric mixer to blend all ingredients, approx.
  5. 2 minutes.
  6. Lightly grease the bottoms only of two 8 inch round cake pans.
  7. Cut out 2 8 inch circles of wax paper and place in pans.
  8. Bake at 350 degrees (175 C.) F for 30 to 35 minutes.
  9. Be careful not to over bake, or it will be dry.
  10. Let pans cool wire racks before removing cake.
  11. Run a knife around the outside edge and then carefully turn pans upside
  12. down on wire racks and remove pans and wax paper let cakes set until
  13. completely cool before frosting.
