Mock Apple Pie (Cracker Pie)

• 4 cups water
• 2 cups sugar
• 4 teaspoons cream of tartar
• 40 each crackers ritz, crumbled
• 1 dash cinnamon
• 1 dash nutmeg
• 1 each pie shell (9 inch) unbaked
• 1 x butter

1. Combine water, sugar and cream of tartar; bring to a boil.
2. Boil for 2 minutes.
3. Add cracker crumbs, cinnamon and nutmeg.
4. Boil for 1 minute longer.
5. Cool; place in pie shell.
6. Dot with butter.
7. Bake at 350F (180C) for 55 minutes.
