Ayres' Barbecue Sandwich Recipe

• 1 lb grnd beef
• 1 Tbsp. shortening
• 1 lrg onion minced 7 Tablespoons
• 2 Tbsp. sugar
• 1 Tbsp. vinegar
• 3/4 c. ketchup
• 1 x green pepper seeded & minced 8 Tablespoons
• 2 Tbsp. dry mustard
• 1 tsp salt

1. Brown meat in shortening till crumbly: Combine remaining ingredients and stir into browned meat; cover and sim- mer slowly 30 min, stirring occasion- ally Watch carefully to prevent burning.
2. Serve on toasted buns.
