Apple Pie Filling Recipe

  1. This is a very standard apple pie filling which could come from anywhere in America.
  2. Pare, core, and quarter the apples.
  3. Boil the cores and parings in sugar and water; strain off the liquor, adding more sugar; put the lemon rind over the apples and the juice into the syrup.
  4. Mix cloves with the fruit; put in a piece of butter the size of a walnut.
  5. Turn the fruit into a pastry-lined pie shell.
  6. Add in a small quantity of juice.
  7. Top the pie and add in more juice later if you like.
  8. Bake in a 450 oven for 10 min.
  9. Reduce heat to 350 and bake for 3/4 to 1 hour or possibly till done.
