Kolachky Cookies

  1. Beat butter, cream cheese and sugar in large bowl with electric mixer on medium speed until well blended.
  2. Blend in egg yolks, vanilla and peel; set aside.
  3. Mix flour, baking powder and salt.
  4. Gradually add to butter mixture, mixing well after each addition.
  5. Cover and refrigerate 1 hour.
  6. Preheat oven to 350F.
  7. Place dough on lightly floured surface; roll out to 1/4-inch thickness.
  8. Cut into circles with 2-inch round cookie cutter.
  9. Place on ungreased baking sheets; brush with beaten egg whites.
  10. Indent centers; fill with preserves.
  11. Bake 15 minutes or until edges are lightly browned.
