Haunted House Cake
- 1 pkg. (2-layer size) chocolate cake mix
- 1 can (459 g) ready-to-spread chocolate frosting
- 30 Mini Chips Ahoy! Cookies (about 3-1/2 Mr. Christie Snak Paks Mini Chips Ahoy!)
- 18 bars Cadbury Fun Treats (11 Cadbury Crispy Crunch, 4 Cadbury Mr. Big, 2 Cadbury Wunderbar, 1 Cadbury Caramilk)
- 10 pieces Maynards Zombie Sour Patch Kids
- 1/2 cup Oreo Baking Crumbs
- 2 Ritz Bits Cheese Crackers
- 1 piece black string licorice
- 3 Tbsp. white decorating icing
- 3 drops yellow food colouring
- Heat oven to 350 degrees F.
- Spray 2 (8-inch) square pans with cooking spray.
- Prepare cake batter as directed on package; pour 2/3 of the batter into 1 pan and remaining batter into second pan.
- Bake 30 to 32 min.
- for the smaller cake, and 45 to 48 min.
- for the larger cake, or until toothpick inserted in centres comes out clean; cool in pans 15 min.
- Remove from pans to wire racks; cool completely.
- Cut thin cake diagonally in half; cut each half diagonally in half again.
- Cut thick cake crosswise in half.
- Reserve 1/3 cup frosting; set aside.
- Stack thick cake slices for the house, spreading some of the remaining frosting between layers.
- Repeat with cake triangles to make second stack for the roof.
- Place house on foil-covered board or tray; frost top and sides.
- Place roof on top of house; trim if necessary so edges are even and roof sits securely on top of house.
- Cover with remaining frosting.
- Spread reserved frosting on foil around cake for the ground.
- Decorate with remaining ingredients to match photo.
