Fried Green Tomatoes

  1. Beat egg and milk together.
  2. In a separate bowl, mix flour, cornmeal, and seasoning.
  3. Core tomatoes and cut into thin slices, about 1/4 thick.
  4. Dip tomato slices in egg, then cornmeal mixture to coat.
  5. Heat bacon grease in a nonstick pan.
  6. In batches, brown tomatoes on both sides, turning once (1-2 minutes per side).
  7. Remove with slotted spatula to paper towels to drain.
  8. Serve immediately with hot sauce and lemon wedges.
  9. You could also sprinkle with some fresh Parmesan cheese.
