Merangutang Pie

  1. Preheat oven to 400F Butter sides and bottom of an 8 inch pie plate.
  2. Beat 3 egg whites, 1/4 teaspoons cream of tartar,1/4 teaspoons salt and 1/2 teaspoons vanilla to form stiff peaks.
  3. Add 3/4 cup of sugar beating until stiff and glossy.
  4. Fold in 2 tablespoons of sifted cocoa.
  5. Spread on bottom and sides of pie plate forming a shell.
  6. Place in the preheated oven and turn off the heat.
  7. Leave in oven overnight.
  8. One hour before serving mix 1/2 pint of heavy cream, 1/4 cup sifted cocoa, 1/2 cup icing sugar and a dash of salt.
  9. Beat until stiff.
  10. Fold in 1 can of drained fruit coctail and refrigerate.
  11. This is an excellent dessert and simple to make.
