Homemade Spagetti Sause
- 1/2 bushel tomatoes ( I used Roma )
- 6 cup onions or 3#
- 2 sweet peppers
- 3 hot peppers or 1/2 tsp. dry
- 2 cloves of garlic or 1/2 tsp. garlic powder
- 1 pint cooking oil
- 8 small cans tomato paste or 4 large
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup salt
- 2 tbsp oregano
- 2 tbsp basil
- Wash all of your tomatoes , peppers.
- Peel & clean onions & garlic.
- Chop up tomatoes, onions , garlic , peppers.
- Put in a large Stockpot.
- Cook until everything is very soft.
- Stir once in a while so it does not stick to the bottom of your pot.
- When it gets very soft run it through Food mill to remove Skins & seeds.
- Put it back into Stockpot.Add 1 pint cooking oil , 8 small cans tomato paste or 4 large.1/2 cup sugar, 1/4 cup salt, 2 Tbsp.
- Oregano, 2 Tbsp basil.
- Cook for 30 minutes.
- Put sause into clean jars.
- Have your canner ready to go.Get your lids & rings ready.
- As directed on box.place lids and rings onto jars.
- Process 20 minutes.
- I cut this reciepe in half it makes a lot.
- Out of my half recipe I got 5 pints & 5 - 1&1/2 pints.
- This is really good.
