Fried Green Tomatoes Recipe
- 3 large green tomatoes, cored
- 3/4 cup self-rising flour
- 1 tbsp. salt
- 1/4 tsp. pepper
- Vegetable oil
- 3 tbsp. bacon grease
- Cut tomatoes into thick slices.
- On waxed paper, mix flour with salt and pepper.
- Coat tomatoes and let sit 15 minutes.
- In skillet, heat 1/2 inch of oil and bacon grease over medium high heat.
- Lightly recoat tomatoes with flour mixture.
- Brown on both sides.
- About 1 1/2 minutes on each side.
