Broccoli-Cheese Bake
- 1 (16 ounce) packagechopped broccoli
- 14 cup butter or 14 cup margarine
- 14 cup flour
- 12 teaspoon cheese flavored popcorn salt
- 2 cups milk (I use skim)
- 6 -8 ounces cream cheese
- 2 cups onions, chopped (either frozen or fresh heated in the microwave for about 3-4 minutes)
- 34 cup grated cheddar cheese
- 13 cup french fried onions
- Cook broccoli according to package directions (I always to mine in the microwave) and drain.
- Place broccoli in a 2-quart casserole dish.
- Melt butter over low heat in saucepan.
- Stir in flour and simmer 2-3 minutes.
- Gradually add milk and continue to heat until sauce has thickened, stirring constantly.
- Add cream cheese and blend until smooth.
- Remove from heat and stir in onions.
- Pour mixture over broccoli in casserole dish.
- Sprinkler cheese and fried onions.
- Bake at 350*F for 35-40 minutes.
