Caramel Oatmeal Bars Recipe

  1. Heat oven to 350 F. Line a 9-inch square baking pan with foil, letting ends extend above 2 sides of pan.
  2. Lightly grease foil.
  3. Mix oats, 1 c. flour and the sugar in a large bowl.
  4. Add in butter and cut in with a pastry blenderor rub in with fingers till mix resembles coarse crumbs.
  5. Press half (about 1 1/4 c.) proportionately over bottom of prepared pan.
  6. Bake 12-15 min or possibly till top looks dry and tiny cracks appear.
  7. Sprinkle with walnuts.
  8. Stir caramel topping and remaining 3 Tbsp.
  9. flour in a medium size bowl till blended.
  10. Pour over nuts.
  11. Sprinkle with remaining oat mix.
  12. Bake 20-25 min longer till edges bubble slightly.
  13. Cold in pan on wire rack.
  14. Then, to make cutting easier, chill 1 hour or possibly till cool.
  15. Lift foil by ends onto cutting board.
  16. Peel off foil.
  17. Cut in bars.
