Jalepeno and Bacon Turkey Burger

  1. Cut the bacon into 1/2 pieces and fry in a skillet over medium heat until crisp.
  2. Remove from the skillet and drain bacon on paper towels.
  3. Combine all ingredients (including the bacon) in a medium bowl and mix just until all ingredients are combined.
  4. I use my hands as though making meatloaf.
  5. Dont over-mix, but be sure the ingredients are distributed evenly.
  6. Pat into 6 small/medium burgers or 4 large.
  7. Prepare the grates on a grill by brushing with canola oil and preheat on high reaching a temperature of 375 degrees F.
  8. Reduce the heat on grill to medium and place turkey burgers on grill.
  9. Close lid and cook for 6 minutes.
  10. Turn and cook another 6 minutes on the other side.
  11. Remove burgers from the grill and cover with foil for 5 minutes.
  12. (If making 4 large burgers, allow extra time for cooking additional 3-4 minutes per side.)
  13. While the burgers rest, toast the bread/buns and serve with toppings of choice.
  14. Suggested toppings: Guacamole, lettuce, red onion, red bell pepper, tomatoes, salsa, ketchup, mustard.
