Bj's Hamburger Chowder Recipe
- 2 lbs. hamburger
- 1 onion, minced
- 1 (28 ounce.) can tomatoes
- 1 (10 1/2 ounce.) can consomme
- 1 can water
- 1 beef bouillon cube in 1 c. boiling water
- 1/2 teaspoon sugar
- Salt & pepper to taste
- 1 c. diced celery with some leaves
- 1 c. diced carrots
- 1 (10 ounce.) pkg. frzn lima beans
- 1 (12 ounce.) can shoe peg corn, undrained
- 1/4 c. pearl barley
- Brown beef and onion in deep kettle, stirring.
- Add in tomatoes, consomme, water and bouillon.
- Simmer while preparing celery and carrots.
- Add in lima beans, corn, carrots, celery and cook a few min before adding barley.
- Then add in barley and seasonings.
- Cook slowly, covered, for 45 min to 1 hour.
- If too thick, add in more consomme.
- Great for cool snowy days.
