Root Beer Glazed Ham

  1. preheat oven to 250
  2. line a roasting pan with foil and place ham fat side down.
  3. add 1/2 cup root beer to pan.
  4. let sit 30 minutes.
  5. tent ham loosely with foil and bake 3 hours.
  6. remove ham from oven and increase heat to 325.
  7. pour off ham juice and remove excess fat.
  8. score ham in a diamond pattern.
  9. combine 1 cup root beer, ketchup, brown sugar, zest and juice of lemon and mustard in a saucepan and simmer about ten minutes.
  10. brush a thin layer of glaz over ham.
  11. insert whole cloves into cuts.
  12. bake ham 1 more hour.
  13. combine pan juices and remaining glaze and pour sauce over carved ham.
