Caramelized Onion Pizza
- 1 tbsp. olive oil
- 2 jumbo onions
- 1/2 c. fresh basil leaves
- 1 package Italian bread shell
- 6 oz. Gruyere or Swiss cheese
- Preheat oven to 450 degrees F. In nonstick 12-inch skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat.
- Add onions and 1/2 teaspoon salt and cook, stirring occasionally, until onions are golden brown and very tender, about 25 minutes.
- Remove skillet from heat; stir in basil.
- Place bread shell on large cookie sheet.
- Spoon onion mixture on bread shell; sprinkle with cheese.
- Bake pizza 10 to 12 minutes until cheese melts.
