California Rolls for Hinamatsuri
- 6 Imitation crab sticks
- 1/2 Avocado
- 110 grams Cooked rice
- 2 tsp Sushi vinegar
- 110 grams Cooked rice
- 2 tsp Sushi vinegar
- 2 tsp Sakura denbu
- 110 grams Cooked rice
- 2 tsp Sushi vinegar
- 1 tsp plus Aonori
- 1 Nori sheet
- 1 Soy sauce (wasabi soy sauce)
- White: drizzle some sushi vinegar onto freshly cooked rice.
- Mix together without crushing the rice grains.
- Pink: drizzle some sushi vinegar onto freshly cooked rice.
- Scatter the sakura denbu, mix together without crushing the rice grains.
- Green: drizzle some sushi vinegar onto freshly cooked rice.
- Scatter aonori, and mix together without crushing the rice grains.
- Cover the sushi mat with plastic wrap.
- Cut the whole nori sheet in half and place on the makisu.
- Use your fingers to cover with sushi rice in all three colors, making stripes about 1 cm (or slightly larger) wide.
- Turn over the wrap in Step 4.
- Arrange avocado and imitation crab sticks (cut into four wedges) horizontally.
- Use the sushi mat and roll up tightly.
- Stop and leave about 1/3 of sushi rice.
- Roll up making sure all the ingredients are pressed in.
- Cut into sixes using a damp knife and serve with soy sauce or wasabi soy sauce.
- Do not press down while cutting; pull your knife towards you.
