French Dip Au Jus Baguette

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  2. In a skillet over medium-high heat, add 1 cup of water and au jus mix and whisk well.
  3. Continue adding remaining 2 cups water, whisking well.
  4. Heat on medium high heat for 10 minutes, whisking occasionally.
  5. It will boil.
  6. While au jus is cooking, split the rolls horizontally.
  7. Place cheese on baguettes, with the baguettes laid out open faced on a cookie sheet.
  8. Bake them in the oven until cheese melts and baguettes are just a touch crispy, about 5 minutes.
  9. Pour almost all of the au jus into a bowl, leaving a little bit in the skillet.
  10. Add dry minced onion, stirring it into the remaining au jus.
  11. Then stir in the roast beef and simmer in au jus and onions until warm, 5-8 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  12. Add finished roast beef to cheesy baguettes and serve with your bowl of au jus for dipping.
