Turkey Sloppy Joes
- 1/2 teaspoons Olive Or Canola Oil
- 1/2 cups Chopped Onion
- 1/2 cups Green Bell Pepper, Chopped
- 1/4 cups Grated Carrot
- 1/2 cups Tomato, Chopped
- 2- 1/2 pounds Lean Ground Turkey
- 1 cup No Salt Added Ketchup
- 18 cups Barbecue Sauce
- 2 Tablespoons Prepared Yellow Mustard
- 1 Tablespoon Vinegar
- 1/2 teaspoons Celery Seed
- 1/2 teaspoons Ground Black Pepper
- 1/2 teaspoons Red Pepper Flakes (optional)
- 8 whole Hamburger Buns, Split
- Heat the oil in a nonstick skillet over medium heat.
- Add onion, bell pepper, carrot and tomato and cook until soft.
- Add turkey and cook until the turkey is crumbly and no longer pink, about 5 minutes.
- Stir in ketchup, barbecue sauce, mustard, vinegar, celery seed, black pepper, and red pepper flakes.
- Reduce heat to low and simmer for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Remove from heat.
- Serve turkey mixture on toasted hamburger buns.
- Garnish with pickle slices if desired.
