Decadent Chocolate Berry Granola
- 5 cups oats
- 1 cup slivered almonds
- 34 cup flax seed
- 14 cup brown sugar
- 14 teaspoon salt
- 13 cup oil
- 13 cup water
- 13 cup honey
- 12 teaspoon vanilla
- 12-1 cup chocolate chips or 12-1 cup mini chocolate chip
- 1 -1 12 cup dried raspberries or 1 -1 12 cup dried strawberries, etc
- Preheat oven to 325 degrees F.
- In a large mixing bowl, stir together the oats, nuts, seeds, brown sugar and salt.
- Combine the the oil, honey, water and vanilla.
- Add to oat mixture and toss until well combined.
- Spread the mixture evenly on a cookie sheet.
- Bake for 30-40 minutes or until lightly browned.
- Stir occasionally if you like (if you don't stir, the granola will form nice crunchy clumps - personally, I like it better this way!
- ).
- Allow to cool for a few minutes, then transfer to a bowl and stir in the chocolate chips.
- They should melt slightly in the warm granola.
- Cool completely before stirring in the berries.
- Depending on the size of berries you use, you might prefer to chop them into smaller pieces before adding them.
- Store in an air tight container for up to two weeks (if it lasts that long!
- ).
