Okra Fingers
- 20 small fresh okra pods
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 34 cup all-purpose flour
- 14 cup cornmeal
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 12 teaspoon salt
- 1 dash black pepper
- vegetable oil
- Wash okra, trim steams, drain well.
- Pour buttermilk over okra, set aside.
- Combine next 5 ingredients mixing well.
- Remove each okra pod from buttermilk and carefully roll in cornmeal mixture.
- Drop into deep hot oil; fry 3 to 5 minutes.
- Drain on paper towels.
