white rice - cooking pictures

  1. wash rice under running water to get rid of the extra starch.
  2. then tap dry in the sieve
  3. heat oil and add the spices or add them on the rice.
  4. stir for a few seconds.
  5. on high heat
  6. add rice and stir for 2 minutes.
  7. all on high heat , add water , stir and level and keep uncovered till water starts boiling.
  8. if you are making more rice for more people then add water to cover the top of the rice.
  9. once the water boils lower the heat to the lowest and cover firmly for 20 minutes.
  10. check on it after 15 minutes to see if it needs more water to soften.
  11. if so then add an extra half cup of water.
  12. if the rice ever gets soggy cook uncovered for an additional 10 minutes while checking with a wooden spoon, just flip some up or try a couple for taste.
  13. you can make brown rice by stiring it longer in the oil or as some people here like it: brown half the rice and then add the white rice for a mixed colour , one and one.
