Herb Twist Recipe
- 4 1/2 to 5 c. flour
- 2 Packages dry yeast
- 2 tbsp. sugar
- 2 teaspoon salt
- 1 1/2 teaspoon dill weed
- 1 teaspoon caraway seed
- 1/2 teaspoon celery seed
- 3/4 c. lowfat milk
- 3/4 c. water
- 2 tbsp. shortening
- 1 egg
- Combine 2 c. flour, yeast, sugar, salt, and herbs; mix well.
- In saucepan, heat lowfat milk, water, and shortening till hot.
- Add in to flour, then add in the egg and mix till moistened.
- Gradually add in remaining flour to make hard dough.
- Let rise in hot oven for 20 min.
- Punch down; divide into 2 parts.
- Make twist.
- Place on greased cookie sheet; let rise.
- Bake for 20 to 25 min.
- For glazed appearance, brush with egg whites before baking.
