Ground Beef Gumbo Recipe
- 1 1/2 pound grnd lean beef
- 2/3 c. minced onion
- 2/3 c. minced celery
- 2/3 c. minced green pepper
- 1 (15 ounce.) can tomatoes, undrained
- 2 (6 ounce.) cans tomato paste
- 1 (6 ounce.) can sliced mushrooms, liquid removed
- 2 1/2 c. frzn okra, cut up or possibly fresh
- 2 bay leaves
- 1 1/2 tbsp. dry parsley
- 2 1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 1 1/2 teaspoon dry basil
- 1 teaspoon dry oregano
- 1 teaspoon chili pwdr
- 1/2 teaspoon cumin
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1/2 c. water
- 2 tbsp. dry red wine
- Warm cooked rice
- Cook grnd beef, minced onion, celery, green pepper in heavy pan over medium heat till meat is browned; drain.
- Stir in remaining ingredients except rice.
- Simmer uncovered for 1 hour.
- Remove bay leaves and serve over warm cooked rice.
- Easy.
