My Way Mac & Cheese
- 1 lb Private Selection Italian Trottole noodles
- 1 egg
- 3 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 3 tbsp butter
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1 salt (as needed for taste)
- 1 dash ground nutmeg
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1 cup shredded cheese (your fave)
- 1 cup extra cheese (for topping)
- 1 bacon bits (garnish)
- Preheat oven 350F.
- Boil noodles as directed.
- Found these noodles at Kroger.
- Drain and set them aside.
- In same pot used to boil noodles, add the butter and flour.
- Slowly work it into a roux, adding salt for flavor while cooking off the flour.
- Add milk, stir continuously until thickness desired.
- Add black pepper, garlic powder, and nutmeg.
- Add cheese, continue to stir until you have consistency of cheese sauce.
- After noodles are cooled, add egg and fold into noodles.
- Add noodle mixture into cheese sauce.
- Carefully fold noodles into sauce.
- Pour into casserole dish.
- Add the remaining cheese plus bacon bits.
- Bake for 15 min.
- Once done, you can add small dollops of butter.
- Certainly will melt and add richness to the dish.
