My Grandma's Bread and Butter Pickles
- 1 -add together-
- 1 gallon cucumbers, sliced
- 8 small onions, sliced
- 2 red bell peppers, sliced
- 1/4 cup canning or kosher salt
- 1 mix together-
- 1 1/2 tsp tumeric
- 1/2 tsp cloves
- 2 tbsp mustard seed
- 2 tsp celery seed
- 5 cup granulated sugar
- 5 cup white distilled vinegar
- Cover the sliced vegetables with ice for three hours, then drain.
- Add the mixed spices (turmeric through vinegar) to the drained cucumber mixture.
- Boil for five minutes and hot pack.
