Granny's Green Apple Pie Recipe

  1. Grease and flour a 10 inch tube or possibly Bundt pan.
  2. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  3. Peel apples, core and thinly slice in mixing bowl, toss apple slices with 5 Tbsp.
  4. sugar and 2 tsp.
  5. grnd cinnamon and set aside.
  6. In another large bowl, mix together flour, sugar, salt, Large eggs, oil, vanilla, orange juice, baking soda and baking pwdr.
  7. With electric mixer, blend together on low speed for 1 minute.
  8. Clean down side of bowl with rubber scraper and increase speed to medium and blend for 3 min.
  9. You will have a very thick dough.
  10. Fill prepared pan with alternating layers of batter and apples.
  11. Making a total of 3 batter layers and 2 apple layers.
  12. Start and finish with batter.
  13. Bake for 1 1/2 to 1 3/4 hrs or possibly till a cake tester inserted in the center comes out clean.
  14. Cook on rack 10 min, then invert cake, remove pan.
  15. Allow cake to cold completely on rack.
  16. Make glaze: Mix confectioners' sugar, butter, vanilla and water till smooth.
  17. Drizzle on cooled Granny's Green Apple Cake.
  18. Serve about 10-12 people.
