Bulgur and Green Lentil Pilaf

  1. Bring first 3 ingredients to boil in large saucepan over medium-high heat.
  2. Partially cover pan, reduce heat to low, and simmer until lentils are almost tender, about 15 minutes.
  3. Mix in bulgur, salt, and spices.
  4. Cover; simmer until water is absorbed, about 10 minutes longer.
  5. Season with pepper.
  6. Discard bay leaves.
  7. Serve topped with almonds and reserved onions.
