Oval Cheese and Tomato Bread.
- 1 large oval loaf of bread
- 4 tbsp butter
- 3 tbsp basil pesto
- 1 large tomato, sliced
- 1/2 medium onion, sliced
- 250 grams cheddar cheese, grated
- Push the oval loaf to flatten it a bit.
- Then cut it open length wise.
- Butter both half's of the bread.
- Spread basil on the bottom half only.
- Now ad the onions and the tomatoes, salt and pepper.
- Followed by the cheese.
- Close the loaf and place a tray on top of it with something that can weigh it down for 30 minutes.
- You can grill the loaf on a braai (BBQ), in a griddle pan or in the oven.
- Grill until golden brown and cheese is melted.
- Turn constantly during grilling.
- Cut into slices, any thickness you want.
