Butterscotch Crumb Apple Pie Recipe
- 4 c. Pared, cored and sliced tart cooking apples
- 1 1/2 tsp Lemon juice
- 1/2 c. Sugar
- 1/4 c. All-purpose flour
- 1 tsp Cinnamon
- 1/8 tsp Salt
- 1 x 9-inch unbaked pie shell (see note)
- 1/2 pkt (12-ounce) Nestle Toll House butterscotch flavored morsels
- 1/4 c. Butter
- 3/4 c. All-purpose flour
- 1/8 tsp Salt Whipped cream or possibly ice cream (optional)
- Filling: Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
- In large bowl, combine apples and lemon juice; toss till well coated.
- Stir in sugar, flour, cinnamon and salt; mix well.
- Spoon into pie shell (see note).
- Cover edges with aluminum foil.
- Bake at 375 degrees for 20 min.
- Topping: Combine over warm (not boiling) water, Nestle Toll House butterscotch flavored morsels and butter; stir till morsels are melted and mix is smooth.
- Remove from heat.
- Add in flour and salt; blend till mix forms large crumbs.
- Remove foil from pie.
- Crumble Topping over warm apples.
- Bake at 375 degrees for 25 min longer.
- Serve hot with whipped cream or possibly ice cream, if you like.
- Makes one 9-inch pie.
- NOTE: If using frzn pie shell, it's necessary to use deep dish style, thawed.
- Place on cookie sheet and bake additional 10 min.
