Perfect Margarita

  1. To make the simple syrup: Mix sugar and water in a small sauce pan.
  2. Bring to a gentle boil, about 5-10 minutes.
  3. Once the sugar has dissolved in the water, turn off the heat and let the mixture cool.
  4. To prepare citrus: Squeeze the juice from 6 lemons and 6 limes into a container.
  5. Cut up rinds into small chunks (approximately 8 chunks to one lime and 16 chunks to one lemon).
  6. To make one margarita: Put a handful of ice and 3 lemon rind chunks and 3 lime rind chunks into a cocktail shaker or pint glass.
  7. Muddle using a muddler.
  8. Pour in one shot each of simple syrup, Tequila, lemon/lime juice and 1/2 shot Grand Marnier.
  9. Stir well.
  10. Wipe a lemon rind around the rim of a glass and dip it in salt.
  11. Put a handful of ice in the glass and pour in the margarita mixture.
  12. Drink.
  13. Repeat.
