Chewy Steamed Bread with Pancake Mix & Bread Flour
- 100 grams Pancake mix
- 70 grams Bread flour
- 1 tbsp Vegetable oil
- 100 ml Milk
- 5 tbsp Sugar
- 1 dash Baking powder
- Mix the egg, vegetable oil, milk, and sugar together well.
- Add the pancake mix and bread flour to the mixture and fold in with a rubber spatula.
- When using a steamer Prepare some paper cups (preferably lined with glassine paper) and pour the batter into the cups.
- Place the cups into a steamer that is already steaming and steam for 15 - 20 minutes.
- (This takes longer than it would in a frying pan).
- When using a frying pan Place the cups in a large frying pan.
- Pour water into the frying pan until 1 cm in height, cover with a lid and steam for 12 - 14 minutes.
- Once they become full and fluffy, they're done.
- A version with pancake mix, banana, cocoa powder and raisins:
- Try replacing the 200 g pancake mix in these recipes with 100 g pancake mix and 70 g rice flour.
- When using bread flour, the bread flour may not rise as much so that's why it's better to use baking powder as well when possible.
- I use 2 g for the bread in the photos.
