Atar Allecha (Ethiopian) Recipe

  1. Atar Allecha is a spiced green pea puree.
  2. Soak peas for one hour.
  3. Cook for 1/2 hour.
  4. Drain.
  5. Mash.
  6. Set aside.
  7. In dry pan over moderate low heat, stir fry the onion and garlic for 2 mins.
  8. Add in oil and stir fry one minute more.
  9. Add in the mashed peas, tumeric, salt, and chili.
  10. Mix well.
  11. Add in the water and cook 3-4 mins longer to reduce the mix to a thick, green, well spiced puree.
  12. Serve with hot Injeera.
