Handy Pastry
- 4 cups flour, all-purpose
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 3/4 cups vegetable shortening
- 1 each eggs beaten
- 1/2 cup water cold
- 1 tablespoon vinegar
- Combine flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt in a large bowl; cut in shortening with pastry blender until mixture resembles coarse meal.
- Stir in egg, water, and vinegar.
- Divide dough into 5 equal parts; shape each into a ball and wrap tightly.
- Chill.
- May be stored up to 2 weeks in refrigerator.
