Rich Ham and Cheese Strata

  1. Butter a straight sided 8 1/2 X 11 inch baking dish.
  2. Make a layer of 1/3 bread, ham and cheese.
  3. Mix flour and mustard in a cup; sprinkle about 1 tbsp (15 ml) over layer.
  4. Drizzle 1 tbsp (15 ml) butter over layer.
  5. Repeat with bread, ham and cheese, then flour mixture and butter to make 2 more layers.
  6. Over top layer, sprinkle remainder of flour mixture.
  7. Beat eggs with milk until foamy.
  8. Pour over layers in baking dish.
  9. Cover, chill at least 4 hours or overnight.
  10. Bake uncovered at 350 degrees (175 C.) for 1 hour or until golden.
