Williamsburg Lodge Baked Apples
- 12 baking apples
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- 1/4 cup red currant jelly or honey
- Preheat oven to 350F.
- Grease a 13 X 9 X 2 inch casserole dish.
- Core apples.
- Trim away 1/2 inch of peel around the stem ends.
- If bottoms are uneven, trim so they will stand upright.
- Place apples in the casserole dish.
- Place 1 teaspoon butter, 1 teaspoon brown sugar, 1/8 teaspoon of cinnamon, and 1 teaspoon of jelly or honey in the center of each apple.
- Bake for 40 to 45 minutes, basting with pan juices after 20 minutes.
- Apples should be slightly firm, but tender.
