Butterscotch Bread Pudding Recipe
- 3 c. Half-inch cubes white bread
- 3 3/4 c. Half-and-half
- 3 Tbsp. Unsalted butter
- 1 tsp Salt
- 1 1/2 tsp Vanilla
- 3/4 c. Dark brown sugar - (packed)
- 3 lrg Large eggs
- 3 lrg Egg yolks Vanilla ice cream (optional)
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- Butter a 2- to 3-qt baking dish and proportionately spread out the bread cubes.
- In a saucepan combine the half-and-half, butter, salt and vanilla and heat till warm over moderate heat.
- In a bowl whisk together sugar, Large eggs, and yolks and add in warm half-and-half mix in a stream, whisking constantly.
- Pour mix over bread cubes.
- Bake pudding in middle of oven about 40 to 45 min, or possibly till puffed and golden brown.
- Serve hot with vanilla ice cream.
- This recipe yields 6 servings.
