Parmesan-Dusted Meatballs

  1. In a food processor, pulse 1/3 cup of the almonds with the sugar until finely ground.
  2. Coarsely chop the remaining almonds.
  3. In a bowl, mix the bread crumbs and milk.
  4. Add the almonds, beef, pork, egg, 1/2 cup Parmesan, parsley, currants, salt, and allspice.
  5. Mix until combined.
  6. Form into 1-inch balls.
  7. Heat 1 1/2 tablespoons of the olive oil in a heavy 12-inch skillet over medium heat.
  8. Add half the meatballs, and saute until they are cooked through, about 7 minutes.
  9. Transfer the meatballs to a platter.
  10. Repeat with the remaining oil and meatballs.
  11. Garnish with Parmesan, and serve immediately.
